Silver Jewelry

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Abu Usamah

Can women wear silver or artificial  jewelry? Can a man wear silver?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Al-Salam `alaykum

It is allowed for women to wear all types of jewelry, whether of gold, silver or any other metal or non-metal. Artificial jewelry is also allowed. However this only applies to other than rings. It is not permissible for women to wear rings that are not of gold or silver. (Fatawa Hindiyya 5.335, Maktaba Rashidiyya/Majidiyya 1986)

Silver is only permitted for a man in the form of a silver ring. Even then it is best for other than those who need to use a ring for stamping not to wear a ring. It is only a sunna for those who have this need. For details of this refer to the previous answer titled: “Should a ring be worn by men?”
