Correction of duas for eating

Q:

  1. Please clarify if the dua for eating has wa ala barakatillah or if it is just wa barakatillah without ala, which one is Sunnah and rewarding?
  2. The dua after eating is it wajaalana minal muslimeen or wajaalana muslimeen, which one is Sunnah and rewarding?

Please write the duas in Arabic with Harakat and reference from Hadith.

A:

1. At the time of partaking of meals, one should recite بِسْمِ اللهِ. We have not come across (Wa Ala Barakatillah). However the word بسم الله و بركة الله appears in the following Hadith:

2. We have not come across من المسلمين. However وجعلنا مسلمين appears in the following Hadith:

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Q: Is it totally impermissible to recite the duas as  بسم الله وعلى بركة الله (Wa Ala Barakatillah) and  من المسلمين as this is the way we were taught in makhtab madressah. I am now 24 and have recited it this way all those time. I have also tawt my kids this way. Please advise. We used the basic essentials dua kitaab while in madressah.

A: Though the meaning in both cases will remain the same, however the dua should be recited in accordance to the words that appear in the Mubaarak Ahaadith.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
