Rights of a divorced woman

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q:

1. What are the rights and status of a divorced woman in Islam?

2. Does she now have to stay with her parents?

Bismillaah

A:

1. During the period of iddat, she has the right of receiving expenditure and shelter.

2. The safer and more respectable thing is that she should not be living by herself all alone. She should live with her parents.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
