Repenting from illicit relationships

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I had love affairs and also fulfilled sexual desires with the girls I had affairs with. But then I got married and have 2 kids. Now I think that if I do it or go for non means, I will be punished in the form of my children doing it. So please give me a solution to the problem. If I marry someone, my parents and my wife’s parents will be against me.

Bismillaah

A: Sincerely repent to Allah Ta’ala for your past sins and make a firm resolve that you will not repeat those sins in the future.

Do not allow shaitaan to mislead you by thinking about the women you committed the haraam with and wishing to marry them. These thoughts are from the side of shaitaan. Ignore these thoughts and thank Allah Ta’ala for blessings you with a happy family.

If you are loyal to Allah Ta’ala and you bring up your children correctly, instilling within them the correct Islamic values, they will lead a life of piety and become the means for you gaining entry into paradise.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
