Cutting one’s hair uneven lengths

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q:

1. Is qaza’ haram or makrooh?

2. If I want to cut my hair short on the sides and keep it large on the top but my intention isn’t to imitate anyone and I’m only doing it because I believe I would personally look better would this be considered haram?

Bismillaah

A:

1. It is impermissible.

2. Irrespective of the looks, it amounts to an imitation whether you intend it or not. Like if a man has to wear a woman’s dress this is imitating though he does not intend imitating.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
