Does telling one’s wife that she can leave constitute talaaq?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Many times I fought with my wife and angrily my wife unintentionally said to me that she is going to leave my house. I also replied the same (ok you may go) but it was unintentionally and I knew that we both were not serious. Is this type of fighting considered talaaq? Please advice.

Bismillaah

A: If you did not intend giving her a talaaq at the time of telling her to go, then no talaaq has taken place.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
