Cutting off contact with family and friends due to one’s job

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I work in Saudi Arabia as an expat and have many friends and relatives here but I do not have any contact with them for a long time because my job has made me a very low level person. I don’t want them to know about my job so I cut off contact with them. Is this a sinful act in Islam?

Bismillaah

A: Why should you cut off contact with Muslims. You should continue to have a relationship with righteous Muslims. Yes, if the relationship is leading you to irreligiousness then such people should be avoided.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
