Breaking the Cycle of Major Sins: Tips for Moving Forward After Seeking Forgiveness

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: What should a person do to stop committing gunah e kabira (major sins)after seeking forgiveness and repeating the same?

Bismillaah

A: In order for one to be successful or achieve any goal in life (whether worldly or Deeni related), one is required to show determination and courage. Without determination and the necessary effort one will not succeed in reaching his goal.

For half an hour in the mornings and evenings and before retiring to bed, seriously reflect over death. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: Death is the thing that will sever all pleasures and comforts of life. Ask yourself if death has to strike, are you ready to face the questions in the grave and on the Day of Qiyaamah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
