Hairstyles for Muslim women

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I have a question regarding hairstyles of women.

1. What hairstyles does the shariah command us to make and what type of hairstyles to abstain from?

2. Is it compulsory for women to style their hair in such a way that the hair falls through the sides and the mid line of the scalp is seen?

3. Is their any punishment for not keeping the mid line of the front scalp shown?

Bismillaah

A: The styles of kuffaar and the west etc. should be avoided. Similarly, the styles of fussaaq and people who are not committed to deen should be abandoned.

This is the way of all Muslim women. The way adopted by women in general must be adhered to.

Moving away from the ways of Muslims is extremely dangerous.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
