Omitting the Jumuah Salaah intentionally

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I know that if you miss 3 jummah prayers, Allah will print a stamp on your heart. I’m a student and I only have Friday and Saturday as holidays, is it ok if i miss just 1 jummah prayer (not 3) and go back to Jummah the next week?

Bismillaah

A: This is not permissible. Jumuah Salaah is among the salient features and symbols of Islam. The one who omits the Jumuah Salaah without any valid reason has committed a major sin in the sight of Allah Ta’ala. As a believer, one should be grateful for the favour of Islam. The way a servant will express gratitude for the favour of Islam is by him fulfilling every command of Shari’ah in the manner Allah Ta’ala has commanded. Omitting this great obligation, without any valid Shar’ee excuse, apart from it being a grave sin, it is showing gross ingratitude for the favour of Allah Ta’ala.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
