Passing away without settling one’s debt

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q:

1. I heard that if someone has a debt and passes away then that person would never enter Jannah, is that true?

2. What if someone has debt and leaves this world, he wanted to pay for it but he didn’t, would Allah still deny him Jannah?

Bismillaah

A:

1. For every major sin one will have to account for it. He will have to bear the consequence. After suffering the consequence all believers will definitely get into Jannah.

2. As above.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
