Breaking My Oath: Is It Haraam to Play a Game?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I made an oath that I wouldn’t play a game, but now I want to break my oath and pay expiation for it. Is it haraam?

Bismillaah

A: It is not permissible for you to break your oath. If you break your oath you will be sinful and you will have to give the kafarah for breaking the oath.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
