Assisting a bed-ridden person to make istinja

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: It is not permissible to look at another persons body or to touch their private organs. So if there is a man who is bedridden and he has no wife, and he can not make his own istinjaa or change his own clothes, how should it be done?

Bismillaah

A: If he cannot do the istinjaa by himself then someone else should tie a plastic or glove on their hand and do the istinjaa. However, be careful not to look at the private area.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
