Getting married without observing iddat

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I have a sister. She was married then her husband gave her talaaq. She supposed to sit in idda for 3 months. She told us she did, but unfortunately she didn’t sit in iddah. She lied to us and now she is already married to someone else. Is her second marriage valid?

Bismillaah

A: If the period of iddat had passed and thereafter she married, the nikaah will be valid.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
