Child using someone else’s surname

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Is it permissible for a child to call himself with another man’s surname other than his father’s?

Bismillaah

A: No, he should not change his surname as this will lead to ambiguity and confusion being created in regard to his linage and the family he belongs to.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
