Asking a new Muslim to be his heir

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I am involved in making da’wah to non-Muslims to enter Islam. If somebody accepts Islam due to my da’wah and says the shahadah to me, may I ask him to make me his “mawlah” so that I can inherit from him? Or can this concept of “mawlah” not be used in our modern times?

Bismillaah

A: You do not have the right to make this type of a demand.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
