Carpenter not completing the job

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Few months back I had got services of carpenter for my home new kitchen. I said to him please make the kitchen with well finishing and I asked him the rate he wants. When kitchen was finalized it was not well furnished and had many technical issues and when I said to him it is not up to the mark and then he without informing me left the house. I had already gave him maximum amount and only PKR. 10,000 was left with me. Now after few months, he is approaching other person who talked with me for giving him 10,000 left amount. My question is: What Islam guides us in this matter. May I give him rest of amount as my kitchen work he didn’t do what he said? Please help me and guide me.

Bismillaah

A: Request him to complete what is left and then give him the 10 000.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
