Husband accompanying the wife in the labour room

Q: Is the husband allowed to be with the wife in the labour room when she is in labour?

Bismillaah

A: It is not in keeping with respect and shame. This was not the way of the good Muslims of the past.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
