Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Mathabah.org

Question:

What is the best way to stop shayṭānic whispers, doubts and devilish incitements?

Answer:

In the Name of God, Most Merciful, Most Kind

Jazāk Allāh Khayr/ Thank you for your question.

May Allāh protect one and all from Shayṭān, the devil and his assaults.

Our recommendations are as follows:

  • Try to remain positive and understand that God’s Mercy, Compassion and Kindness are endless.

  • Do not follow up the evil thoughts. Busy your mind with positive and better thoughts. Keep busy so you do not have time to think about the past.

  • Recite أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ

  • Be punctual in doing dhikr and reciting Qur’ān.

  • Try to remain in wuḍū at all times.

  • Avoid too much loneliness and seclusion. Remain in the company of positive, motivated and religious friends and relatives.

  • Know that you will not be punished for random or evil thoughts that enter the mind.

“Indeed those who is mindful of God when an impulse touches them from Satan they remember Him and at once they have insight” (Qurʿān; Al-A’rāf: 201).

“And if it comes to you from Satan an evil suggestion then seek refuge in God. Indeed he is the All Hearing and All Knowing” (Qurʿān; Fuṣṣilat: 36).

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “The strong believer is better and more beloved to God than a weak believer and they are both good, be eager to achieve all that benefits you and ask God’s help and support and do not give up” (Saḥīḥ Muslim)

And Allāh Knows Best.
