Whose Name will We be Called by on the day of Judgement?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Mathabah.org

Answered by Shaykh Yūsuf Badāt

Question:

On the day of Judgement will we be called with the names of our mothers?

Answer:

Jazāk Allāh for your question.

Please note that the following sound ḥadīth shows that, on the day of resurrection, people will be called with their own names and with the names of their fathers;

The Messenger of Allāh (peace and blessings upon him) stated,

You will all be called on the day of judgement by your names and your fathers names, so therefore keep good names for your selves” (Abū Dāwūd, Musnad Aḥmed, Dār Quṭnī)

The alleged narrations that seem to indicate names of mothers are fabricated. (See Al-Kabīr of Imam Ṭabrāni, Mowdhūʿāt of Imam Ibn Al Jawzī)

And Allāh Knows Best
