Assalamualaikum
Please could you tell me if the Nikah is valid, I’m a Hanafi and my husband is Shafi’ee. our parents would not let us marry so we did the Nikah our self with 2 witnesses and someone prayed the Nikah. what I want to know is the Nikah valid as he is a Shafi’ee and my parents weren’t present… if I tell my parents my mother will accept it happily while my father will be angry at first but will come round. also at first my father agreed on the Nikah but because his father disagreed my father also disagreed.
please could you enlighten me….Jazakallah
Answer:
This Nikah is not correct. You must please your father and let him do the Nikah to that person with whom you are happy with. This will be better for both of you.
