Attending Meetings in Niqaab

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Mahmoodiyah

Question:

Assalamualaikum Respected Ulama,

I work in a muslim school, whilst wearing Niqaab. My contact with Ghair Mahrams is limited to necessity (Majority of my concerns are addressed to the secretary or principal). The school requires that I attend staff meetings held every Friday after Jumu’ah Salaah, which are mixed males and females. I am also required to give a short presentation on an Islamic topic to the staff members which I am not at all comfortable doing. I do not want to attend these meetings because it contradicts the wearing of Niqaab. I have expressed my concerns to the principal but he doesn’t seem to understand, what should I do in this situation?

Answer:

You are allowed to attend theses meetings and give a presentation whilst fully observing the Niqaab. If the principal refuses you the right of wearing the Niqaab, then you should object by refusing to attend theses meetings.
