Question:
1- IS IT PERMISSIBLE FOR WOMAN TO WEAR GOLD PLATED RINGS? 2-FOR WOMEN IT IS ONLY PERMISSIBLE TO WEAR REAL GOLD RINGS IF IT IS GOLD PLATED HOW MANY CARETS GOLD WILL BE COUNTED AS REAL GOLD HENCE MAKING ZAKAAT FARZ AND RINGS PERMISSIBLE TO WEAR?
It is permissible for women to wear rings (jewellery) regardless of the amount of gold it contains. Similarly, it is permissible for them to wear gold plated rings and jewellery. (Raddul Muhtaar, Vol. 5, Page 254) However Zakaat will be Fardh on that jewellery in which the gold is equal to or more than the other material used in its manufacture i.e. 12 carats or more and Zakaat should be given on its market value. If the gold is less than the other material i.e. less than 12 carats, then Zakaat will not be Fardh on it unless the ring or jewellery has been bought for resale purposes. (Raddul Muhtaar, Vol. 2, Page 34)
