When does a boy become baaligh?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by IslamicSolutions.org

Question:

When does a boy become baaligh?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu `alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

A male becomes baaligh (attains the age of adolescent) whenever he experiences a wet dream. If he does not experience a wet dream then upon reaching the age of fifteen years, he will be regarded as an adult in Shariah.[1]

The fifteen years will be according to the lunar calendar which is 10 to 11 days shorter than the solar calendar.

And Allah knows best.
