Zakat on Machinery

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by IslamicPortal.co.uk

I am a clothes manufacturer and understand that I have to give Zakāt on the value of the clothes. However, do I have to give Zakāt on the value of the machines?

Answer

There is no Zakāt on machinery unless a person trades in the buying and selling of machines.
