This Hadith has been circulated recently. Please provide the reference.
“None plot against the people of Medina but that they will melt away as salt is melted by water”
Answer
Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu). Imam Muslim (rahimahullah) has recorded the narration with slight difference in the wording.
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 1877 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1386)
Imam Muslim (rahimahullah) has also recorded the following version on the authority of Sayyiduna Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas (radiyallahu ‘anhu):
“…An none desires evil/harm for the people of Madinah except that Allah will melt him in the fire just as lead melts or just as salt dissolves in water”
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1363)
