The intention of a believer is better than his action

Is the following statement a Hadith?

‘The intention of a believer is better than his action’

Answer

This is a Hadith, and has been reported with several chains. Most of the chains have been declared weak by the Muhaddithun. However, when combined, they gain sufficient strength. The Hadith is therefore suitable to quote.

(See Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 6445, Majma’uz Zawaid vol. 1 pg. 61 and pg. 109, Al Maqasidul Hasanah, Hadith: 1260 and Mukhtasarul Maqasidul Hasanah, Hadith: 1154)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
