Three characteristics that make up a large portion of Iman

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by

Is this quotation true?

قال عمار: ثلاث من جمعهن فقد جمع الإيمان: الإنصاف من نفسك، وبذل السلام للعالم، والإنفاق من الإقتار

Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has cited this as the statement of Sayyiduna ‘Ammar ibn Yasir (radiyallahu ‘anhu)-ta’liqan- (without a chain). The full chain is located in Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq.

(Sahih Bukhari, before Hadith: 28, Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq, Hadith: 19439)

Imam Bazzar and Imam Tabarani (rahimahumallah) have also recorded a similar narration as a Hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

(Musnad Bazzar; Kashful Astar, Hadith: 30. Refer: Fathul Bari, Hadith: 28 and Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 1 pg. 56 and 57)

Whoever possesses three characteristics possesses all of Iman; Justice, spreading salam to all people and spending [in charity and avenues of good] even when he is poor.”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
