Is it permissible for unmarried women to remove hair on their body excluding the face? E.g. arms and legs
Aside from the face, shari’ah has not placed any restriction on removing hair from the body. Hence, it would be permissible for a woman to remove hair from her arms and legs if she wishes.
As for the face, it is permissible for a woman to remove hair except from around the eyebrows. For example, if hair is growing in the moustache or beard area then it would be permitted for a woman to remove that hair.
She would not be permitted to remove hair from her eyebrows as this has been prohibited by the Prophet (may Allah bless him and give him peace). The only exception is when the eye brows have become extremely bushy and are visually abnormal. In such a case she would be permitted to remove some hairs to bring the eyebrows to the normal size. Shaping the eyebrows to what is customarily practiced will not be permissible. For more details on the eyebrows please see the following link:
