Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.

It is necessary to wear the Niqab/Parda in front of your brother in law. ‘Uqba ibn ‘Aamir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Avoid (entering a place) which has women.” A person from the Ansar asked, “O Prophet of Allah, What about the brother in law?” The Prophet (sallAllahu ‘akayhi wa sallam) replied, ” The brother in law is death” (Sahih Bukhari 7 / 37)

This narration indicates that a female needs to exercise more caution.
