Some apples are waxed with insect wax. Will it be necessary to peel these fruits before consumption, or will washing them suffice?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwa.ca

Question:
I read here (http://www.arimifoods.com/wax-coating-apple-fruits-healthy-or-unhealthy/) that fruits like apples are coated with a wax to make them shiny, which can be obtained from animals (Animal waxes: Bees wax, Spermaceti wax, Shellac wax and Chinese insect wax)Are these considered Haraam? Will it be necessary to peel these fruits before consumption, or will washing them suffice?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

While certain wax coatings are derived from insect  or insect secretions, and these may be halal or haram depending on the type of wax, such apples can be simply washed and eaten. Washing them off will suffice inshAllah.
