Men performing salaah with pants and shirt

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

Q. Is it sufficient for males to only cover their awrah to perform salaat, for example to wear a pants and shirt, or short sleeve jubba leaving the arms exposed, or does this make the salaat makruh?

A. While performing Salaah, males are required to cover themselves properly as taught and shown by the Prophet (SAS). That is, the males should cover their arms with long sleeve shirts or kurtas / jubbas. They should also wear proper trousers or lungi (waist cloth) that reaches at least up to half of the calves. They should also cover their heads, since the Prophet (SAS) never performed Salaah bare headed. Not performing Salaah in this manner of attire is Makrooh since it is ‘opposing the way of the Prophet (SAS)’.

And Allah knows best.
