Muslim woman should not visit a male doctor.

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

Question:

Asalaamu alaikum.

I read one of your Q&A where it was stated that because there are many female doctors a Muslim woman should not visit a male doctor. However, in the public health system it may not always be possible that a female doctor is on duty at the time of a visit to a Health Centre, District Health Facility or General Hospital. Also, most of the gynecologists in the public health system are males. Can you share some advice to sisters who cannot afford private health care?

Answer:

Wa Alaikum as Salaam,

If you cannot afford private health care where you can specifically go to a female doctor, then it will be allowed (if you have no other alternative) to go to the male doctor which is provided in the public health care.
