Throwing trash at the doorstep of Nabi Sallallahu Aalai Wasalam

Question

Assalamu Alaikum. Can you please clarify if this below is a fabricated hadith or not.

A Jewish woman in Makkah would throw garbage on the doorstep of the Prophet Sallallahu Aalai Wasalam in defiance of his message, and one day she fell sick and could not throw the garbage, so Prophet Sallallahu Aalai Wasalam visited her.

I’ve been informed it’s not a hadith but an anecdote. That’s even more confusing, because aren’t Ahadith a collection of sayings and actions of from the life of the prophet saw? In that case, it is a hadith then?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

We could not locate the basis for this specific incident in the books of hadeeth or reliable works of Seerah.

However, there was more than one instance when refuse and waste was thrown on the pathway of Nabi Sallallahu Aalai Wasalam.

From amongst the incidents is that they would throw sand on his blessed head, pile up torn intestines, human faeces and blood on his door, throw a dead sheep’s uterus into his cooking pot, spitting on the beloved face of Nabi Sallallahu Aalai Wasalam, etc. [1]

The disbelievers left no stone unturned in causing harm and difficulty to our beloved Nabi Sallallahu Aalai Wasalam.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
