Online Investment Scheme

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DaruliftaaZambia.com

Assalamu alaykum.

There’s an online business that requires people to invest a certain amount of money for a certain amount of time and then for each day from the time of investment they give u a certain percentage of your  money which u can withdraw any time. Say there’s what they call student package, u pay a k625 and then they start giving $1.5 every day up to 60 days.

When the days are over u can withdraw the amount u invested plus the percentages they were adding which makes it double the initial investment.  Is this permissible for Muslims to participate or its riba as well? Your guidance will really be appreciated

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

We apologise for the much-belated response.

It is not permissible to engage into any business deal that guarantees a fixed return on your capital investment. As such, it is not permissible to engage in the business that you have mentioned.[1]
