Performing the prostration of recitation in Surah Al-Alaq

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

As Salamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatu.

While in congregational prayer, how should one make prostration during recitation of the Qur’aan (Sujood at-Tilaawah) in Surah al-Alaq?

The method seems quiet complicated for whether one should prostrate (for Tilaawah) or bow for rak’ah in the end of the verse, can you relieve us with this matter with the help of ALLAH (The Almighty)? Jazaak ALLAHu Khair.

Was salaam.

Answer:

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

There are two methods of performing Sajdah Tilawat in the aforementioned situation.

  1. Perform the sajdah straight away and thereafter recite a few verses and then go into the ruku.

  2. Go into the ruku and make the intention of Sajdah Tilawat in the ruku. (Fatawa Darul Uloom Deoband p.287 v.4)
