Question:

At the time he said, ‘you have 2 weeks to leave this house and I am divorcing you. He said it firmly and sternly, but the anger was brewing then he said ’I have discussed it with everyone. He once said to my son ‘I am giving her 2 weeks to leave, and I am divorcing her’. He said it to me 3 times which I challenged and rang his father to confirm to which his father denied it but my husband remained adamant and repeated it to his father even when his father came to the house he still never saw reason.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

In the above scenario the words ‘I am divorcing you’ counts as one talaq. If after the first time this was said, no marital relations occurred, and three menstrual cycles passed and he did not call you back, then divorce has occurred. As he has said it to you three times in one sitting, then three divorces have occurred, and the marriage is completely void and null.
