Dua in Sujood of a Fardh Salah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Question:

Can Dua in Sujood be made in Arabic (Especially those from the Qur’an and Sunnah) in Fard Salah, or is that only for Sunnah and Nawafil?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

In Fardh salah the recitation in sujood should be restricted to the tasbeehaat i.eسبحان ربي الأعلى. Other adhkaar and duaas that have been narrated from Hadith pertain to the nafl salahs such as Tahajjud.

However, if a person was to read any of the Arabic duaas transmitted from the Sunnah in sujood after their tasbeehaat there would be no harm in it if it is not a congregational salah, but it is better to adhere to the well-known sunnah of reading the tasbeehaat.

Only Allah knows best
