Is a Hafiz Considered To Be Kufu in Marriage for a Woman Who Is a Hafiza

Answered by: Maulana Anwar Adam

Question

A man who is not a hafiz, Is he considered kufu in marriage for a woman who is a hafiza?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Kufu in marriage only comes up in matters that would lead to difficulty in living together, the view of the majority is that four things will be considered whether a man is compatible with a woman: religion, being a freed person, lineage, and profession.

Therefore, a Muslimah cannot marry a non-Muslim, a free woman will not marry a slave, a woman with an established lineage will not marry someone with an unknown lineage and a woman with a good profession will not marry someone with a lowly job.  [1]

Regarding your question, a non-Hafiz boy is suitable to marry the hafiza girl provided the boy is pious [2]
