Question:
Assalamualaikum.
People say that we should stop all work during sunset and sunrise. Is it true? And can we listen or recite the Quran at that time?
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
Only two actions are prohibited during sunrise and sunset: praying and burying the dead (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, Hadīth 831). There is nothing wrong with carrying out any other actions, therefore listening or reciting Qur’ān would be permissible at these times.
