Having Quran Playing in the Background while Studying

Question

Would it be considered disrespectful to listen to Quran while studying?

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

One of the fundamental rights of the Quran is that when it is read, it is listened to attentively. If one is involved in such studying where there is no verbal communication whilst the Quran is playing and the individual is listening quietly and attentively, it will be permissible. However, if one is engrossed in his work to such an extent there is no attentiveness in listening, then it will be impermissible.

The Quran mentions, “So when the Quran is recited listen attentively and silently so that mercy may be upon you”.[1]
