Which Route on the Sat Nav would make one a Musafir?

Question
Respected Mufti Saheb,

I have one question.

In today’s time, many people use Sat Navs for many different reasons.

From my home we travel to Cheshire, depending on what route the navigation sets out it, gives you a different distance in miles. It gives you either 43 miles or 49 miles distance just depends on the route. If the distance shows at 49 miles do you read Qasar?

Generally, it takes you on the 49 miles route to avoid traffic.

Jazakallah Khair.

Answer:

In regards to your question, we will take into consideration the route that you have chosen. If you chose the 49 miles or above route, then you will do Qasar, otherwise, you will read the full set.

In ‘Fatawa Darul Uloom Deoband’ a paragraph of ‘Fatawa Alamghiriyyah’ has been quoted in regards to your query.

“If someone makes the intention of traveling to another place/town or city, and there are two way or route, one of the routes exceed the distance of Musafir, and he/she chose that route, he/she will be Musafir”. [1]
