Question

Assalamu alaikum

I read a post saying that it’s necessary for us to hear what we are reciting in salah or else the salah will not count. Is this true?

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

According to the Hanafi scholars, recitation in the prayer must be audible, meaning that a person must move his tongue and produce sounds which he can hear himself.[1]

Only Allah knows best
