Salah during Istihazah

Question:

I am mazur with regular discharge, how often do I need to change my

pad/cloth ?

If I saw my cloth soiled do I need to repeat any prayers?

Does wudhu break if any discharge exits the vagina? How will I know if

this has happened?

Previously I didn’t  know that I had to make wudu for each prayer or that i needed to wear a pad so do i need to repeat all my previous prayers from when I hit puberty as that is when the discharge began? When I didn’t used to wear a pad the discharge wud soil my underwear sometimes only a little, sometimes a lot but not sure if it

was upto the amount of a dirham coin(4-5cm in diameter).

I also don’t know as to how to observe the amount of discharge e.g if the cloth is soiled in a straight line how do we check if that equates to the amount of a coin or not because a coin is round the discharge is straight? Pls help.

Jazak Allah.

Answer

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

A woman who reaches puberty and continues to bleed for a long period of time, then the first ten days will be considered to be haiz meaning menses and the remaining twenty days will be regarded as istihazah, then the next ten days will be regarded as haiz whilst the following twenty days will be considered as istihazah. This pattern will continue until she stops bleeding.

During the days of her menses she will not read salah nor will she observe fasts. During the days of istihazah she will read salah and observe fasts if it is the month of Ramadhan.

A woman who is in the state of istihazah, she will do wudhu for every salah time, and she can read fardh salah of that time and qaza of the fardh salah she has missed and any other nafal saah within the time. Her wudhu will break by the ending of the salah time or by any other breakers of wudhu besides the vaginal discharge.

If her clothes are soiled with blood and it is more than the inner part of the palm which is approximately the size of a fifty pence, then if she is sure that it will be soiled again before she completes the salah then she is not obliged to wash the clothes, otherwise she should wash it. If the blood stain is in a straight line or in different places then she has to form a dominant opinion whether it mounts to the inner part of a palm or not.
