Answer

(Fatwa: 1881/1571=B/1429)

It is better to greet even over the phone before starting talks, and one should greet with the words which are mentioned in the Hadith. While sending a message to a friend you can also send ‘salam’, but one should not write the complete words of salam, durood and bismillah in mobile messages in order to avoid desecration to the Quran and Hadith.
