Answer

(Fatwa: 833/833=M/1430)

If your father made a will to give fidyah of his missed salah after his death, the heirs are required to pay the fidyah, but this will be paid from the third part of his left wealth. And, if he did not make a will, the heirs are not required to pay the same. But, if the heirs pay the fidyah, it will be kindness on their part to the dead, they will be rewarded for the same. If your father was 55, take out the first 15 years of childhood and have an estimation of salah he performed during the remaining 40 years and pay the fidyah of the missed salah. Fidyah of one salah is 1.575 kg wheat, so calculate 6 salah for each day (five obligatory and Witr) and pay the fidyah accordingly in cash or kind.
