I am working in Department of Posts, as a Postal assistant. Apart from Mails, Money orders there is also SB section where people invest money for a prescribed time period they get their money back along with interest added. There are many Schemes in SB like SB, RD, TD, MIS, KVP, NSC and so on. These interest based services are provided on behalf of finance ministry and department gets commission for this work. And till now there is no money lending work at all. I am working in this department from last 7 years. Now I am afraid about haram inclusion. There is also a post as system admin (computer) job in this Department what about this post? Do elaborate the same? If both or one of them is haram what shall I do then by this time I am totally dependent on my salary only. I have no other source of income.

SB contains interest schemes. If you have to do the job of writing interest based schemes on computer then this job is haram at all. Hadith curses those who consume interest, feed interest or calculate it. And if the matter is not so then too you will be getting your salary from interest money. So, you should not give up this job at once rather keep on searching any lawful job and leave your present job when you get it.
