Can a non-Muslim greeting a Muslim with “Aslamalaikum” or “Namaskar” be responded to properly?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I just want to know that if any non-Muslim who greets a Muslim with aslamalaikum then how should a Muslim react in proper way. Second question is of any non-Muslim who greets a Muslim with namaskar, etc. Then how should a Muslim react in proper way?

If a non-Muslim greets a Muslim with assalamu alaikum (السلام علیکم) the Muslims should reply him with السلام علی من اتبع الھدی  or with ھداک اللہ  or with وعلیک. And, if he greets a Muslim with words like namaskar then the Muslim should respond him with ھداک اللہ or سلام, it is ok to reply with the word salam only:

اذا سلم علی اھل الذمۃ فلیقل السلام علی من اتبع الھدی، و لو سلم یھودی علی مسلم فلا باس بالرد ولکن لا یزید علی قولہ وعلیک، کذا فی الشامی۔
