Is it permissible in Islam to lease land for farming?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Is it permissible in Islam to give a land for farming on rent? The rent will be a fixed amount on monthly or yearly basis. I asked a few persons about this. They said that it is haram to give a land on rent. They said I will have to share the profit and loss with the person whom I am giving the land for farming. Please clarify. If giving the land for farming on rent is haram then can we give it to someone else for any other business on rent other than farming?

Answer

(Fatwa: 75/31/L=1433)

It is right to give one’s land on rent for farming. Also, it is allowable to fix the rent on monthly or yearly basis.
