Azan is also a kind of zikr (of Allah). It is mentioned in Hadith that mosques are built for performing salah and doing zikr. Since Azan is also the zikr of Allah, therefore it is right to call Azan inside the mosque. However, it is better to call Azan standing on a higher place outside mosque so that the voice may reach far off.
